As stated in my draft project assignment, when starting this assignment, I knew I wanted to create a “flyer” of some sort about the benefits of having an Emotional Support Animal that I have learned through doing research on my own before getting one myself, and now having one myself. My little man Meeko is pictured with me on my flyer in the middle. Also on this flyer, I have included other pictures of Emotional Support Animals. On the right is my best friend’s ESA, Flute, or Lulu for short taking a little walk on the WSU Pullman campus. She is an Aussie, Boxer, Collie mix. On the left is a picture taken by a friend of mine, Cortney Gosset, of her ESA Casper. Lastly, found in the bottom right corner is what a certified ESA card looks like, when they are registered by the National Service Animal Registry (that is Lulu’s card). Surrounding the pictures and on top of a serene grass background I got from a free images website (https://www.pexels.com/photo/background-bright-close-up-environment-413195/), are short benefits of having an Emotional Support Animal. ESA’s can benefit a person in so many different ways and these are just a few of the benefits that are found when you have an ESA. After reading my peer’s feedback I chose to blur the grass background to make it less aggressive to the attention of the rest of the flyer. I also chose to move around the photos and words to make it seem less cluttered and chaotic. I also chose to change some of the colors of the rectangles included in the flyer to make some contrast. All of the photos were moved up and together and I moved the words into a more centralized location instead of being spread out among the photos. In summary, my peers said that the background should somehow be toned down, which I did through blurring it, and the words should be brought together to seem more cohesive, which I did by moving them to the bottom left and that I should somehow change the title piece to make it stand out from the rest, which I did by adding a 3D effect to the words. The one challenge I faced when editing my design was the ESA card in the bottom right, due to the way the cut out was that was the only place it could go otherwise the hand would have an awkward cut off. Over all, my topic is something I am very passionate about and I am very happy with how my project turned out.
